Supported by the Opus Orchestra, and special guests Amina Edris and Chase Douglas.
Born in Hamilton, a young Malvina won the New Zealand Mobil Song Quest in 1963 and went on to study at the London Opera Centre.
The rest is musical history as Dame Malvina's international Opera career went on to include twenty-eight major Operatic roles, extensive Oratorio and Concert repertoire and a wide-ranging discography of commercial recordings.
In 2012 our national treasure is moving back to Hamilton and this event welcomes her home after her extraordinary journey.
She is joined by two exceptional young talents;
Chase Douglas
Tenor and Waikato University Hillary Scholar who has just returned from supporting Hayley Westernra on her national tour.
Amina Edris
Has studied under the tutelage of Dame Malvina Major and is the Sir Howard Morrison Memorial 2011 Scholarship winner. In 2012 we also welcome Amina as a new resident in Hamilton.
This spine tingling line up is supported by many of the regions finest classical musicians who come together under the direction of Peter Walls as Opus Orchestra.
